What is Jawbone UP move?
Jawbone UP move is the entry point to the health tracker line by Jawbone. Its focus is around providing you with all your critical monitoring (activity tracking, food tracking, and smart coach) but in a lifestyle, discrete and active way. With the users ability to option wrist band/clip, color, and texture, the options for personalization based on personal style, use and context are numerous. Wear it fashionably on your wrist, clip it anywhere on you and start moving with UP move.

Process view
The process around creating jawbone UP move started with basic monitoring internal's (activity tracking, food tracking, and smart coach) provided by Jawbone including their proprietary technology. With this techno block we ideated around a family system that could give users the option to either wear it on their wrist or clip it anywhere. The heart of this system is the removable monitoring pod (below view).
Prototype process view
Following the sketching process we began to quickly refine the designs in CAD and in prototyping. We did numerous iterations around the shape of the pod, the user experience around removing the pod, and the design and user experience of both the wrist band and clip. It was critical for us to have the wrist band to have universal sizing meaning the smallest and largest wrists could use UP move (below view).
Wrist band's cosmetic models / CMF
Following the refinement process with CAD and prototypes, we moved to cosmetic models. These cosmetic models were used show the range of color, texture variations and wrist band widths that could be achieved. These variables coupled with the interchangeable monitoring pod allows the user to truly personalize their UP move (below view's).
A LED display seamlessly integrated under a one way coated plastic display means you are given critical tracking information only when requested or when needed. This hidden display gives the UP move a lifestyle feel rather than a consumer electronics feel.
Giving you insights into your life
One of UP move's greatest assets is its sleep tracking technology that monitors your sleep quality. Soft touch TPU wrist band is breathable, irritation free, comfortable and light for optimum sleep comfort and performance during your everyday active life.

As the name implies, the UP move is intended to accessible and versatile for people on the move. The UP move clip allows users to position their device anywhere they want (below views)

Exploded construction view
The UP move clip is a relatively simple construction of a co-molded TPU layer over a die cut and formed spring steel clip. The UP move pod is a 2 piece aluminum clam shell construction with a lower battery access hatch and a nylon TR90 display cover. Beyond being a life style approach, the UP move is aimed at being able to tackle an active life style. As a result, special consideration around integrating sealing into the construction means that is can handle itself in the rain and at certain water depths.
UP Move packaging
The UP move packaging is all about revealing the user what they are buying before they buy it. This idea translates into the information of the packaging which highlight its core monitoring functionality using bold but quick to read graphical elements. The back of the packaging breaks down in greater detail what the different monitoring and tracking features are about.
